Sitting around a campfire having s’mores and a drink seem to be one of summer’s (and fall’s) greatest pleasures. Dark chocolate, sweet sugar and cold beverage to wash them down. What if you could combine the two? Much like the success story of the Reese Cup.
Well the Little Boo Boo Bakery in New York City has taken marshmallows to a new level. Not only are their marshmallows crafted without the use of any artificial ingredients, but now they are making marshmallows with various liquors including Gin and Whiskey. Your next camping trip is about to get a little more exciting. Calm down, they are only 5% alcohol or less.
The marshmallows come in three different adult flavors: Portobello Road’s No. 171 gin, grapefruit, and basil; Knappague Castle Irish whiskey, cocoa, hazelnut, and black pepper; and Mr. Kat’z Rock and Rye, spicy honey, and lemon. The goal was to make them craft cocktail like but not to sweet. We personally have not tried them yet but we have them on order.
Little Boo Boo Bakery also offers regular “all natural” marshmallows as well for those looking for a healthier alternative to s’mores.
Ship date is July 12th and the cost is $7.00 for a 16 piece bag. You must be 21 to order.
The folks at Outside Magazine report”
Right about now you’re probably wondering about the safety of dangling an alcoholic sugar pillow over an open flame. Little Boo Boo says they tested the marshmallows to make sure they weren’t absurdly flammable. “They’re only about five percent alcohol, so it’s not like a liquor soaked rum cake or anything like that,” says Scarritt-Selman. “But like anything, it’s important for people to use common sense when they’re roasting them.”
