Brand History: A Cult Following and Mysterious Allure

The Very Olde St. Nick (VOSN) brand has long been a subject of fascination and desire among bourbon enthusiasts, often shrouded in a bit of mystery. Originally developed by Marci Palatella and the Preservation Distillery, VOSN bottlings have historically been known for sourcing exceptional, well-aged whiskies, often with a focus on export markets before gaining wider acclaim in the U.S.

Clearly branded as Olde St. Nick with their familiar logo, each new release is a unique expression.  These unconventional bottlings are tributes to the company’s decades-long history of releasing flavor forward, intense with complexity Bourbon and Whiskey.

Created in 1986, and under the same ownership for more than 35 years, Olde St. Nick is not an old brand “resurrected,” or a crafted story to make the new sound old, but exciting small releases from many years of methodically collecting vintage stocks, barrels that are now coming of age. Preservation has the luxury of owning its own Kentucky distillery producing in extremely small batches, and today, are in the position to produce and bottle slightly more of these gems with a focus on distribution in key North American markets.

Each Bourbon or whiskey from Preservation Distillery is produced in extremely small batches typically of 1-3 barrels, featuring an eclectic assortment of hand-designed labels with wax preserving the unique flavors. The limited edition Very Olde St. Nick Bourbons is consistent with its many expressions of Bourbon and Rye Whiskey featuring bold, complex flavors rarely encountered in the modern Bourbon world.

Preservation Distillery + Farm was founded in 2015 in the Bourbon Capital of the World with a commitment to crafting world-class whiskeys. The former historic 40-acre tobacco farm is home to a family-owned, pot-distilling craft producer with decades of experience in the Bourbon industry. The distillery’s collection of products includes Very Olde St. Nick, Rare Perfection, Wattie Boone & Sons and many more.
