Just when you thought high-quality headlamps couldn’t get any lighter, BioLite releases the ultra-lightweight USB rechargeable Headlamp 200

BioLite Headlamp 200
The BioLite Headlamp 200 is ideal for runs, hikes and even doing chores around the house when you need a third hand. Although it is not the brightest on the market, it is ridiculously light, weighing in at a svelte 50 grams.

Looking for a lightweight packable headlamp that can get the job done and not weigh you down? Tired of sore and achy muscles from that long run with a headlamp strapped to you head. The BioLite Headlamp 200 might be the answer! Entering the game at only 50g (which is roughly the same weight as a golf ball) and it is rated at 200 lumens, it provides just enough light on high beam to get you through almost any challenge. The HI mode is ideal for running and more intense activities while some of the lower and LO mode options are ideal for hiking, around camp, walking the dog or fixing the pesky drain under the sink. Yep, the Headlamp 200 can be used just about anything.

The BioLite 200 Might Be Your New Best Friend.

When you need a good light you usually need it right then. Most runners keep spare clothes and shoes in their car, so why not keep a headlamp as well? Imagine planning on running after work but you get stuck in a late meeting and now it’s dark out. Toss it in a travel bag, a gear bag or or store it in the hump box of your car for when you need it. Ours is continuously plugged into the USB port in our car. If the car is running, the headlamp is charging and ready to go for an evening run or can serve as a back-up light in case you need to look under the hood or change a flat in the dark.

One Button Controls

One single button is used to turn it on, cycle through the 4 beam modes, dim the light and even lock the headlamp so you don’t accidentally turn it on while it’s stuffed in a gear bag. Nothing sucks more then grabbing a headlamp and the battery is DEAD.

How long does the BioLite HeadLamp 200 Battery last?

The battery will last 3 hours in HI mode which puts out 200 lumens and 40 hours in LO mode. Adjusting the brightness can take some practice. You need to tap and then hold the button to adjust the lighting. We recommend watching the video below.

A 3 hour burn time is perfect for most running or hiking situations before or after work. Our experience is you want to run on HI mode if running or navigating anything super technical.

Superior Fit from the Headband

The Headlamp 200 features a moisture-wicking technical band that is ready to handle any activity and it is actually comfortable. The housing integrates directly into the band for a flush front that sits flat and stays put. This is by far one of the best fitting headband/light combo we have seen.

Business up front and safety in the rear. While it is easy to see someone coming towards you at night, them seeing you is made a little easier with a reflective headband.

Overall Thoughts on the BioLite Headlamp 200

The BioLite Headlamp 200 is a great ultralight companion for most adventures and workouts. We used it running, sledding, hiking, walking the dog and even gave it to the neighbor kids to use on their scooter and play night tag.

The BioLite Headlamp 200 retails for $45.00 is available online at bioliteenergy.com, REI.com and local retailers.
