Full Speed Ahead (FSA) has been working on a full component group for years, and it’s finally unveiled, even though it won’t be available for customers until Spring 2017.
The new group is the electronic and “hybrid wireless” K-Force WE component group. The first iteration, no surprise, is road-oriented, with double chainrings, caliper rim brakes and small-range casssettes, but a single chainring 1X disc brake system for cyclocross and gravel is expected. Initial price is not yet set, but should be competitive with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 and SRAM eTAp.
What’s hybrid wireless? While the K-Force shifters, as with SRAM eTAP, requires coin batteries to operate and communicate with the derailleurs via a wireless signal, the derailleurs are wired to an internal battery stored in the seat post.
The group weighs 2090 grams, allows customization through a mobile app, and uses ANT+ for wireless transmission, creating opportunities to easily share data between devices.
