It is recommended that you replace your SRAM AXS shifter batteries once a year. Yes, they last longer, but why gamble for only a few dollars? Our recommendation is to put it on your calendar as a repeating event or do a subscription on Amazon. You can also check the status on the back of your shifters.
SRAM AXS shifters use a common CR2032 battery secured by a simple battery cover. You will need two batteries for the shifters, and if you are running an SRAM power meter, you will need a third battery there. Shifter batteries will last nearly two years of normal use, but we’ve found it a good practice to replace them yearly. If you don’t have CR2032 batteries already, chances are Amazon can deliver them tomorrow or the next day if you are a Prime member. I found this the best option, as I never remembered them at the store.

The LED on AXS shifter paddles and derailleurs can tell you a lot while pairing components together, updating the firmware with the SRAM AXS Mobile App, and checking the battery status.
The simplest way is to perform a shift and compare the LED light with the battery status chart to determine the approximate amount of life left in your shifter battery.

We suggest replacing your SRAM shifter batteries once a year at the beginning of the season. Twice a year for people who ride over 30 hours a week. SRAM claims that typically batteries last about two years under normal use. This is based on an estimate of 15 hours of riding per week.
For best performance, SRAM recommends choosing replacement batteries without a bitter child-safe coating ring. Generic batteries can sometimes have low voltage, which can cause them to drain faster.
