Ending a Historic Image, Ritchey Stops Using the Iconic Rainbow Stripes on its Components After More Than 30 years

The Ritchey component brand is one of the most recognised on the planet. Founded in 1972, for years it was a benchmark in production bicycle equipment and components such as its stems and handlebars were highly sought after. It even had its own international team capable of triumphing in the most important XC races in the world. For more than 30 years its image has always been associated with the rainbow of world champions, but that is no longer the case.
Tthe time has come for Ritchey – in accordance with UCI regulations – to retire the iconic rainbow stripes that identify Ritchey’s World Champion Series (WCS) product range. Sources read that the agreement between the UCI and Ritchey to use the world champion stripes expired at the end of 2024 and is not renewable.

New Rules on Everest: Officials May Ban Unsupported Attempts and Require Guides

The cost of Everest climbing permits will rise 36% beginning this fall, the Nepalese government announced this week. However, that news surprised few of the mountain’s many guiding companies.
More significant is a new regulation that could ban independent climbers from all of the country’s peaks over 8,000 m. This new regulation — often overlooked in news reports focusing on price increases — states that everyone on Everest has to hire a guide. One guide is responsible for at most two clients.
While not specified in Nepal’s new rules, the mandatory guide is presumed to be a Sherpa or other Nepalese ethnic group. It’s unclear whether a Western guide will suffice. Nepal has not yet forbidden climbs without bottled oxygen, as China has done for the Tibetan side of Everest.

Nemo Soul™ Endless Promise® Synthetic Mummy Sleeping Bag

NEMO’s newest sleeping bag silhouette is now offered with aerospace-grade, recycled synthetic insulation for ultralight adventures in any climate. Inspired by the traditional tapered mummy bag, Soul has a sleek, streamlined shape that shaves excess material and weight wherever possible but still sneaks in plenty of comfort features. A mono-polymer design, Soul also meets their Endless Promise® standard and can be fully recycled at the end of its life — just send it back to NEMO, and they’ll handle the rest.
Soul’s single, asymmetrical front zip integrates with our innovative Headwall™ internal draft guard to provide 360-degree protection. A plush, insulated collar, Headwall wraps around the back of the neck and cozily overlaps itself in front to efficiently block cold air while creating a uniquely comfortable experience. Balancing the front zipper is a single Thermo Gill™ vent, enabling fine-tuned temperature control. With both internal and external zippers, the Thermo Gill incrementally releases body heat without direct exposure to the cold, extending the usable temperature range of the bag. For additional instant ventilation (or simply to let your feet poke out), the footbox also features a zippered opening. Highlighting the clean design are strategically placed vertical and horizontal baffles to optimize warmth and comfort while preventing migration of the Zerofiber™ 800 synthetic insulation.
