REEB Dikyelous Belt Drive

You’ll feel like a kid again busting through the woods on the REEB Dikyelous belt drive. 29er wheels, True Temper OX Platinum oversized tubing and a Gates Carbon Belt Drive make this steel rig a fun all day hassle-free bike. We had the luxury to pimp out our demo model with some killer components. The end result? We feel it might be one of the coolest steel 29er’s around. If you see it out on the trails, feel free to toss a leg over it and take it for a spin.

Reeb Dikyelous just looking good

The Gates Carbon Drive system is ready to roll. Look for a full review coming in July.

Friendly reminder to hit your favorite watering hole post ride

Why yes, REEB is beer spelled backwards and just happens to be owned by Oskar Blues Brewing company. This handy little top tube sticker will remind you to stop by your favorite watering hole on the home.

That is one sexy head badge on the Reeb Dikyelous

Their steel is American-made. The small parts are American-made and the frames are made by people you can talk to and share a beer with, in a place you can visit.

Synscros XR1.0 Carbon Stem

The Syncros XR 1.o stem is light and has a great look to it, especially when paired with a Syncros bar.

Syncros FL1.0 Carbon bar

The Syncros FL1.0 T-Bar features a unique “flip flop” that can be used to adjust the bar height +/- 5mm.  At 740mm, it is a pretty wide bar but provides lots of leverage that’s sometimes needed on a single speed.

Nice Clean Cockpit

Nothing like a nice uncluttered bar setup.

reeb-7

The Selle Anatomica saddle not only provides a sweet stylish look to the REEB but is also amazingly comfortable. The Flex-Fly slot allows the saddle independent movement on each side keeping your sit bones happy.

reeb-8

A 5mm allen screw in the front of the saddle can be used to adjust the tension of the leather.

reeb-8a

The full-grain leather Bourbon grips from Portland Design Works look good and locks into place. The metal end helps keep them from getting too torn up if you happen to crash. We are banking on the honey color to darken up and match the saddle with time.

reeb-9

You won’t find any chain lube on the Gates Carbon Drive setup. Say “bye bye” to that awkward chain ring mark on your inner calf. Commuters will love the fact that they can arrive to the office without ruining their pants.

reeb-9a

When running SRAM xx1 cranks we found that the North Coast Billet spider was the only thing that would work. Sorry we didn’t clean it before the picture.

reeb-10

We ran the rear cog in the out-most furthest position for proper chain alignment. If the chain alignment is off, you can definitely feel the added friction when back pedaling.

reeb-11

One 2mm spacer is placed on the outside of the cog. This is needed since the end of the Stan’s cassette body has a chamfer on it. Without this spacer the cog will actually break off the ends of the splines. We found this out the hard way.

reeb-12

SRAM’s Guide RSC is very adjustable and provides more then enough stopping power for a day on the trails.

reeb-13

The Stan’s Arch wheelset is an ideal trail wheel as it is light, strong and with a 15mm thru axle tracks like a champ. Vittoria tires, formally Geax Tires, are back in the US and the Peyote seems to be making a big splash in the MTB scene.

reeb-14

The Peyote is a well-spaced cross country tire that handles well in dry and loose conditions. Once we get it into a little mud we’ll let you know how it works.

reeb-15

The Xpedo M-Force 8 work like a charm, feature a titanium body and cromoly spindle, and it comes in at 260 grams.
